I’m Chris Griffiths – a photographer and journalist in the music industry.
Two things defined me from an early age, and the Riff Photos brand reflects the combination of those. A love of photography and music. The Riff is the part that hooks you, and Photos from my photography, something that has always been life enhancing rather than just work or an interest.
I work across live shows, festivals, promotional shoots, and studio sessions. For the time I’m involved, I see myself as part of the team. Collaboration matters. Clear communication matters even more. I won’t cross lines, chase moments that don’t belong to me, or put my presence ahead of the artist, the audience, or the space we’re sharing.
That approach has led to trusted access and long-term relationships. I’ve toured with artists, covered festivals across the UK and Europe, and produced album artwork for artists including Feeder, Elles Bailey, and Bernie Marsden. I’ve also been trusted with legacy projects and final tours – work that carries responsibility as much as opportunity.
Alongside photography, I write about music and the people behind it. My combined work has been published across multiple print and online publications, including Blues in Britain, Living Blues, Blues Matters, ERB and others. I also sit on the board of the UK Blues Federation, and Suceava Blues Festival, contributing to the scene beyond just the work I produce.
Before working full-time in music, I had a career in marketing. That experience still shapes how I work now. Images aren’t just composed to look good – they’re made to be used. Press, releases, posters, campaigns, social platforms — understanding how and where an image will live, and helping you understand and make the most of this press is part of the job.
At the end of the day, my role is simple: to represent artists and their projects honestly, professionally, and with care. The focus stays on the music, the people behind it, and doing the work properly.
